Colombia: a water test needs more than a pH reading.
Resolution 2115 provides a useful starting point for understanding why a drinking-water report contains several different measurements.

The document behind the number
The official registry dates Resolution 2115 to June 22, 2007. Its subject covers drinking-water characteristics, control tools and monitoring frequencies. This article uses that original text to explain how to read a report; it does not decide the current legal requirements of a particular installation.[2][1]
Several questions in one report
Article 1 lists a basic analysis that includes turbidity, apparent colour, pH, disinfectant residual, total coliforms and Escherichia coli. Article 4 specifies a pH interval of 6.5–9.0. The document treats these as distinct characteristics: one pH result cannot stand in for the complete analysis.[1]
Build a readable record
For a practical comparison, make separate columns for the parameter, result, unit, sample date and reference used by the laboratory. Keep an unreported parameter visibly unreported. Ask which supply and sampling point the document describes before comparing it with another report. This prevents an attractive headline from hiding a missing measurement.[1]
Keep the conclusion proportionate
A value printed in a regulation is a reference, not a result measured at your tap. Equally, a single measurement does not document what happened on another day. For an actual project, the useful next step is to obtain the relevant supply records and the laboratory’s complete explanation.[1][2]
The key to reading it
Read the whole analytical record. A pH value, a regulatory reference and a finding about a particular supply are different pieces of information.
