An edition contains several kinds of evidence
IDEAM published the ENA 2022 entry on March 23, 2023. Its annexes separate supply and demand, water indicators, groundwater, and municipalities susceptible to shortages in dry or rainy periods. The catalogue helps identify the appropriate document before drawing a conclusion about a place.[1]
Check the year inside the chapter
The executive summary’s water-use section states that its results refer to 2020. It defines demand around water extracted from the natural system for different requirements. The edition year therefore should not be copied automatically into every chart as the measurement year.[2]
Use the map to ask a better question
For a project brief, write down the municipality, the relevant catchment and the supply actually used by the site. Then identify which annex answers the question: availability, demand, groundwater or shortage susceptibility. A territorial planning document and a laboratory report have different purposes. Preserve that distinction when presenting the evidence.[1][2]
Keep the historical reference visible
IDEAM’s catalogue also lists an ENA 2026 progress report. The 2022 study remains the subject of this reading, rather than being presented as the newest available release. Before a decision, compare relevant later publications and local records, including their methods and coverage.[3]
The key to reading it
Match the question to the right annex, territory and reference year. A national study supplies context; it does not certify water at an individual property.
